About

We design and engineer light — for architecture, public art, and the public realm.

What we do.

Light-Ctrl works across two complementary disciplines.

As a technical integrator, we design, supply, program, commission and maintain complete LED pixel lighting systems for architectural facades, commercial environments, signage, and public realm infrastructure — partnering with architects, engineers, signage companies, and electrical contractors across Australia.

As a creative studio, we originate and develop bespoke light art concepts and designs — bringing complete designs to councils, festivals, events and public art commissioners. We design the concept, specify the system, and deliver the installation. One team, end to end.

Our work has been delivered alongside Arup for NEXTDC, at Vivid Sydney, University of Melbourne, retail outlets like Mecca Cosmetics and for councils including the City of Adelaide.

Process

  • Technical schematic diagram of a general luminaire array with labeled sections and components for lighting system planning.

    I Design

Whether we're working from your brief or originating a concept of our own, we translate ideas into buildable systems. System schematics, control architecture, fixture schedules, integration drawings, power infrastructure planning — everything a contractor or installer needs to build without ambiguity. For creative projects, this includes concept visualisation and submission documentation.

  • A man in a black shirt and yellow safety vest stands on a rooftop with HVAC equipment, overlooking a cityscape with buildings and distant hills under a clear blue sky.

    II Deliver

We source and supply LED pixel systems, DMX and SPI control hardware, power infrastructure, and custom components from our established technology partner network — including Advatek, Madrix, Meanwell, Traxon, and CLS-LED. Full procurement, QC, and logistics management. Every component arrives tested and ready for installation, with all documentation in order.

  • A laptop displaying a digital map with colored zones and a three-dimensional scale model of a city in the background, illuminated in dim lighting.

    III Execute

On-site programming, commissioning, and full as-built documentation. We work across the full range — from simple scheduled DMX scenes through to complex generative, data-driven, and interactive pixel installations. After commissioning, we provide structured ongoing support and maintenance so the system continues to perform. We remain engaged beyond handover.

Applications

  • Integrated video screens in facade

    Media Architecture

Dynamic lighting integrated directly into architectural fabric — facade systems, perforated screens, structural elements, and building-integrated media surfaces. We work alongside architects and project teams from early design stages, ensuring the lighting system is considered as part of the architecture rather than applied to it. Our work on the NEXTDC A1 facade in Adelaide — nearly 15,000 RGBW pixels on a generative media surface — is an example of what this integration can achieve at scale.

  • Night view of a large illuminated art installation featuring a glowing blue sphere encased in a geometric metal framework with blue neon lights, in an urban setting with tall buildings in the background.

    Art

We work in public light art in two ways — as a technical delivery partner for artists and creative studios, and as an originating design studio in our own right. We have delivered work at Vivid Sydney, collaborated with artists like REELIZE and Sam Songailo and integrated lighting into First Nations cultural artwork at Kardinia Park. If you're a council, festival, or public art commissioner looking for a concept rather than a contractor, we can bring one to you.

  • Colorful electronic street sign on a sidewalk in front of a white house with the number 34 and a tree with pink blossoms.

    Public Realm

Streets, squares, precincts, and parks. We have delivered public realm lighting for the City of Adelaide, City of Charles Sturt, and Maroondah City Council — from catenary LED systems to feature art installations to precinct-wide colour programming with council-managed app control. We understand the procurement and approval environment local government operates in, and we produce documentation and reporting to match.

    Hospitality & Commercial

Feature lighting for hospitality venues, retail environments, and commercial interiors. From RGBW cove systems and pixel-mapped ceiling installations to high-impact animated brand signage. We have delivered lighting for hospitality venues across South Australia and national retail programs including Mecca Cosmetics storefronts across Australia.

  • City skyline at dusk featuring tall buildings with illuminated signs, including RAA, Allianz, Discovery Parks, and Y Suites.

    Signage

Illuminated signage that performs reliably in permanent commercial environments. We work with signage fabricators and designers to integrate LED pixel systems into architectural signage — providing the lighting supply, control infrastructure, programming, and commissioning. Our work includes large-format RGBW signage for the RAA Building on King William Street, Adelaide.

  • Nighttime view of a modern building with a neon sign for 'The Dignity' and 'Next DC' on the front.

    Facades

Scalable and dynamic pixel lighting systems for commercial and civic facades — from simple gradient wash programs through to fully generative media surfaces triggered by data, events, or schedules. We design the control architecture, supply the pixel infrastructure, write the content, and commission the system. Our facade work includes the NEXTDC A1 data centre in Adelaide, delivered in collaboration with Arup and Nilsen SA.
